Why Transform Ashcan Comics Pub. Into Awesome Combo Productions (ACP)?

In 2018, I launched ACP (then Ashcan Comics Pub.) with my first comic, Oath. Now, under Awesome Combo Productions, I’m creating comics and games! Back then, ACP stood for Ashcan Comics Pub. — a name rooted in comics. But as I branched out into making games, the name started to feel a little too narrow. I wasn’t just making comics anymore; I was also creating games like 1000 Blades and Truth: Save the Miners!. So, it felt like time for an upgrade.

I knew one thing for sure: I wanted to keep ACP. Those three letters had become part of my identity (a lot of you know me as ACP_Nate). With the wheels of creativity turning, I landed on Awesome Combo Productions. It has a nice ring to it, feels true to my nature (I say “awesome” a lot 😅), and it opens the door to everything beyond comics.

Games + Comics = AWESOME

For those new here: Ashcan is a comics term. An ashcan edition was basically a prototype comic — something small, rough, and often discarded — but always a first step toward something bigger. And that’s exactly how I see ACP: the start of something that keeps growing.

Since then, ACP has expanded in so many ways. We’re creating worlds through indie comics, games, and stories that push my imagination forward. Projects like Vala the Beast Heart continue to explore new characters and settings, while my games bring these worlds to life in interactive ways. Each project is a stepping stone, a way to experiment and grow, and I’m thrilled to have a space where that’s possible.

Looking ahead, I’m excited to keep building. Awesome Combo Productions is more than a name — it’s a philosophy. It’s about creating freely, exploring new ideas, and sharing them with a community of readers and players who love storytelling as much as I do. Whether you’ve followed ACP from the Ashcan days or you’re new here, I hope you’ll enjoy what’s coming next.

So here we are. ACP is evolving, and I’m grateful to share this journey with you. I know I’m still laying the groundwork for what’s to come, but the future is wide open. It’s an honor to keep building, and I’m excited for the journey ahead.
